Entry qualification | High School Diploma/Higher Secondary Certificate In case if the original language in the documents is English or Polish, no translation needed. In case of all other languages, please, prepare sworn translation. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You need to submit sworn translations into Polish of all required documents. If you do not have a possibility to make Polish translations, we will accept the documents translated into English and you will have to submit Polish translations after arrival. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. |

Other requirements | A relevant portfolio is required. The portfolio should consist of between 5 and 10 works in at least A3 format, made in pencil, including: 3 drawings representing architecture, The portfolio should be accompanied by a statement that the work submitted was produced independently (available under the link that Admissions Team will send to upload portfolio). The works will be assessed by the admissions committee on their ability to use perspective, observation of chiaroscuro, proportion, and detail. We would like to remind you that the given works are inspirations only, not a copy material. Overview
Aim of studies
Architecture is the field of study that combines the knowledge and skills of designing and shaping the plastic, artistic and aesthetic qualities of buildings. It is also the science of embedding building compositions in the space we live in.
As part of our studies we prepare you – the future bachelor in architecture – for such tasks as:
- developing building designs by yourself
- reconstruction, modernisation and adaptation of buildings
- exercising control over the implementation of projects
- solving structural and engineering problems related to building design.

Scope of studies
By studying Architecture (first degree, engineering studies) at UEM (WSEiZ), you will gain practical and theoretical knowledge of:
- creating architectural designs that meet aesthetic, ecological, as well as technical requirements,
- history, theory of architecture, related arts, technology, environmental protection and humanities,
- urban design and the skills needed for the planning process,
- the relationship between people and buildings and between buildings and their surroundings, as well as the relationship: buildings and space between them and human needs,
- the profession of architect and his social role, especially when developing concepts for the design by taking into account social factors,
- methods of collecting information,
- structural design, constructional and engineering problems related to building design,
- physical, technical and computer problems, as well as the knowledge of the functioning of buildings in order to provide them with appropriate external conditions and protection against climate influence,
- design in order to meet the requirements of buildings within the constraints imposed by cost factors and building regulations,
- economics, management, regulations and procedures for processing design concepts in the construction of buildings and the integration of projects throughout the planning process,
- adequate preparation for contracting for architectural-construction works, building supervision and ancillary work related to creative urban planning and architectural design of buildings.
Career opportunities
Employment perspectives
Thanks to the comprehensive education and the prestige that is associated with this profession, architects with the UEM diploma find employment in architectural studios, architecture and urban planning departments of local government administration at all levels: municipal, county and provincial. They are employed in conservation studios and construction companies. They work in the organisation of exhibitions and fairs, stage design, advertising agencies. They are also sought after employees abroad.
