ABOUT THE FOUNDATION YEAR
Foundation Year is a two-semester introductory course to first-degree studies. It is a form of entering the studies which later on makes learning process easier and helps in acclimatizing in Poland.
The program is addressed to foreign candidates who apply for bachelor’s or master’s studies in English at UTA, but due to their insufficient level of knowledge of English language, they cannot attend the first year of degree program. Such candidates must first apply to study and complete the Foundation Year, and then pursue the major program.
After successfully completing the Foundation Year course, participants pursue their chosen field of study. Application documents are assessed once during admission to Foundation Year.
The Foundation Year course provides a curriculum aimed at achieving the level of English language knowledge necessary to complete studies conducted in English at the University of Technology and Arts in Warsaw.
FOUNDATION YEAR CLASSES INCLUDE:
English language classes: intensive English classes aimed at reaching at least B1 level. Total number of hours: 750.
Polish language and culture: basic Polish language for foreigners. Introduction to Polish culture. Classes: 2 hours per week.
Specialized subjects: mathematics, introduction to engineering, introduction to information technology, English for engineers. Classes: 3 hours per week.
Academic life and soft skills classes: understanding the principles and functioning of academic life, critical thinking skills, social communication skills, building self-confidence.
Lectures: possibility of participating in program lectures as a free listener.
