New name - new future

Today’s inauguration, at 3 October 2024 was truly special – not only we celebrated the 30th anniversary of our University but also enjoyed the new beginning. From October 1, 2024, we are operating under a new, inspiring name: “University of Technology and Arts in Applied Sciences in Warsaw”, abbreviated as “UTA”.

This change, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science on December 21, 2023 not only symbolizes our evolution and reflects our ambitions and directions for future development but also proves our success – according to Polish law the name Akademia is allowed to be used only by the universities with positive accreditation and minimum of 10 years’ experience.
Over the past three decades, our institution has grown into a vibrant community of scholars, researchers, and innovators, making significant contributions to education, society, and the world. To commemorate this special milestone, we will be hosting a series of events throughout the year, including guest lectures, alumni reunions, cultural performances, and more.
The new name, “University of Technology and Arts”, expresses our commitment to building a harmonious educational offering that combines technical sciences and the arts, creating a unique academic environment that fosters creativity and innovation. We believe this synergy is the key to educating future leaders in both fields. The name change also confirms that our university has met the rigorous criteria required for higher education institutions to adopt the title “academy of applied sciences”, as defined by the Higher Education Law, and recognizes our past achievements.
As part of our transformation process, we are also proud to introduce the new symbol of our university – a modernized bear, designed by our design student, Ms. Gabriela Łagowska, with the support of professional graphic designers and under the artistic supervision of Maciej Konopka PhD, professor at UTA. This new symbol reflects our courage, strength, and readiness for continuous growth. Join us on this exciting journey of change.
